Laurel, as an aromatic plant, is widely used both in cooking and in herbal medicine. From a gastronomic point of view it is successfully associated (both in leaves and in ripe drupes) with white, red, black (or game) meats and offal. The energy supply of laurel derives mainly from carbohydrates and lipids; it also contains considerable quantities of dietary fiber and constitutes a real concentrate of mineral salts; among these we distinguish mainly: iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and selenium. From a vitamin point of view, laurel contains mainly riboflavin, niacin and retinol equivalents (ß-carotenes). Produced in: Sicily / Italy
